| Mode | Grouped by | Best suited for |
|---|---|---|
| Category (default) | RSS category tags | Browse by topic |
| Source | Name of feed source | Aggregation of multiple sources |
| Date | Time periods (Today, This week, ...) | Chronological archives |
| None | No grouping – unified timeline | Real-time/mobile feeds |
Source mode is the most reliable – it always works, regardless of whether feeds provide category tags.
Configuration
Per content element: Set the grouping mode in the plugin fields.
Global default setting: Website administration > Settings > MPC RSS plugin > Grouping mode.
Details on category mode
If a feed item does not have an RSS category tag, the extension attempts to determine one from the feed URL path (e.g. /politik/ corresponds to ‘Politics’). If this fails, the source name or ‘General’ is used as a fallback value.
You can use inclusion/exclusion filters (separated by commas; case is not taken into account) to specify which categories should be displayed.
